The Casa's Children's Outreach

Every year the Casa de Santa Maria offers two outreach programs for our local children.

The Casa donate's Christmas gifts for the 60+ children of two local Head Start Schools in San Luis and Fort Garland.

Costilla County is the poorest county in Colorado. The median income per family is around $18,000 and in many cases less. Therefore, the Casa has chosen to help out each Christmas with a nice educational toy for every Head Start Child.

The Casa's second Children's Project is our "Coats for Kids" program. Each year we collect brand new winter coats for those children in need. Thanks to our Casa supporters we have been able to donate more that 100 warm winter coats since 1997.

In addition, through publisher's grants, the Casa has also provided each child with an anti-bullying book as well as several other children's books.

Last year the Casa also donated rhythm band instruments to enable all 60+ Headstart children to be a part of their newly formed school rhythm bands.

As the Casa grows financially we will continue to seek new opportunities to be a positive influence for the Children of the San Luis Valley.
