Our Little Friends in San Luis Just around the corner from our home, he lay frozen to death on the bridge at the base of the well known shrine of the Stations of the Cross, an unceremonious death for such a regal creature. Such a beautiful animal, and in his prime. What is it about this area? There seems to be an insensitivity to our animal friends -- whether owned, or abandoned strays, the vast majority seem to be treated the same. Ignored, left to fend for themselves. It seems it's in the upbringing. Perhaps we are being too judgmental. I know this is a poor county, and times are difficult. Is that the reason the dogs and cats huddle in the sub-zero windy nights, hoping to make it one more day till the warmth of spring? It truly breaks our hearts. These beautiful creatures so love to be loved and respond in kind when shown deserved respect. At present we have three full grown Labs and a puppy who seek affection, shelter and food at our house. They are joined by four or five abandoned (or owned) cats in need of the same, With our three inside cats Tucker, Molly and Smokey, we can't bring any more into the house, but my, how they love to be loved -- and apperciate what we do on their behalf We have straw bales placed strategically around our home to act as wind-breaks. Not very effective when the temperature drops to 25 degrees below zero. I'm pretty certain that tending them in such conditions is how Susan and I came down with our colds this winter. It does break your heart though to be in the middle of all this need -- with no help available from local authorities. We built a makeshift home on our front steps for the puppy. A dog bed cocooned by four blankets, next to a newly purchased dog house. Although spring is just around the corner for many, San Luis, at 8,000 feet elevation still has snow into early April. We plan to take the puppy to the vets tomorrow for his shots, worming and then the following day to be nutered. This year we plan a drive to have area pets spayed and nutered. Being costly for area folks, and with the closest vet a 90-mile roundtrip away -- we'll need good luck with that effort. (As an aside, our animal food bill this fall/winter is nearing the $400 mark. Donations appreciated)... Just around the corner from our home, he lay frozen to death on the bridge at the base of the well known shrine of the Stations of the Cross, an unceremonious death for such a regal creature. How Far Does Your Casa Reach? |
|||
The Casa website receives an average of 275 to 340 visitors each week, representing 10 to 15 countries -- which last week included China, Japan and the Russian Federation. It seems the World Wide Web has eliminated walls that once existed. If you haven't checked out our new-look Casa website, please do. It speaks to the mission Susan and I were given in 2005 when we visited with John of God's Casa in Brazil.
To Offer Clarity to Life's Purpose! To Bring Comfort, Peace and Joy to the Soul! One day soon, the actual Casa de Santa Maria location in San Luis, Colorado will become the physical hub, attracting thousands from across the land, to experience the healing power of the Divine. You are each a part of something big -- and growing. We apprciate you, your prayers, and your financial support. Our message of Love, Forgiveness, and non-judgment is on the move. |

Become A CASA ANGEL |
|||
Believe it or not — your $10 contribution could help bring thousands to the Casa. Here's your chance to become a Casa Angel! To insure the successful development of the Casa de Santa Maria, we'll soon enter the beginning stages of applying for grant monies from a number of philanthropic organizations. Grant approval will be greatly influenced by the degree of support given the Casa by its friends and interested parties. That support insures success. Now we all have an opportunity to demonstrate that support in visible ways, one of which is by financial contributions. To supplement the occasional larger donations the Casa receives, for those who can afford, we are asking you to become a Casa Angel by pledging $10 or $20 monthly to the Casa Creation Fund. You can pay monthly by personal check, or with your credit card through our PayPal automatic subscription program. To become a Casa Angel, (and receive your wings) send your first $10 or $20 gift along with your statement of intent to continue your monthly gifts. We appreciate your support of the Casa's Mission! |
