Snowflake has been a longtime rescue project we've been working on since November of 2008. We first spotted him on a rainy November night, cowering in a dark restaurant driveway. Our attempt to coax him to a warmer dryer spot near our home were unsuccessful.
A visit to the restaurant owner the next day revealed Snowflake had been abandoned and was surviving on handouts from her establishment. "He won't let us get near him, obviously abused by humans" shared the owner. We checked on Snowflake periodically.
Several months ago the restaurant moved out of the area, but Snowflake won't leave, still looking for those handouts upon which to survive. That move increased our feeding attempts and hope that he would eventually accept us as folks who want to help get him settled in a new and comfortable setting.
He IS allowing us to get closer during our feeding visits. We'll keep you posted. he's a pretty dog and seems like he'd be gentle and loving once he gained trust. Our eventual hope is to get him to the VETS for a checkup and cleanup, then find a home where he can be loved and appreciated.
This picture is from yesterday. We'll keep you posted.
Puppy Sanderford is healing nicely from his wounds. Our dear friend Robert (See our last Casa newsletter www.casadesantamaria.org/casanews fell in love with puppy as he was nursing him back to health. He asked if we would allow him to adopt Puppy, promising to give him a loving home and great TLC.
It was an emotional decision for Susan and me — but, in truth, an easy one. One made in the best interest of this wonderful dog who deserves the best. We don't have the facility or the ability to give puppy the care and area/space he needs.
We will miss him — and will visit him from time to time. He is a part of our lives.
And the world moves forward...
